Ice made their first voyage to Siam back in 1857, via ship, in big slabs contained by crates. To preserve the cool temperatures throughout their Singapore - Bangkok route, each slab of frozen water was painstakingly covered with layers of sawdust. What's better than stumbling onto something as great as a real artisanal goodie. Case in point is this delicious deep-fried dough locally known as 'Pa-Tong-Go.' While many places depend on the quick recipe using baking powder, this one still relies fresh yeast made and taken care of overnight.
