So this is what it’s like dining at Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin in Bangkok.
We recently had dinner at Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin at Siam Kempinski Bangkok where they are serving the Winter Journey Dinner, an 8-course meal with four different amuse-bouches at Bt3,200++ per person, with an option for wine pairing at Bt2,300++ extra. Voted as one of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2014 and 2015, Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin has been awarded with one Michelin Star in Michelin Guide 2020 Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket & Phang-Nga. This is a one-of-a-kind ‘Thai’ restaurant where the outgoing and outspoken Danish Chef Chef Henrik Yde-Andersen of Copenhagen’s famous Kiin Kiin restaurant tinkers new takes on Thai dishes from his bewildering experiences to the cuisine. In Bangkok, the person in charge is Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin Senior Head Chef Chayawee Sutcharitchan whose southern Thai roots play a big bold role in the journey.

By playing with his memories about exotic Thailand and playing around with various cooking techniques, Chef Chayawee and Chef Henrik came up with so many unique dishes that Sra Bua came to be known for. For example, in this Winter Journey—the one that hopes to bring femininity into the meal—still features their famous ‘Tom Yum with Prawn Cracker, Thai Taco’ with a syringe spouting soft tofu that, according to Chef Hendrik, mimicks Thai people’s favourite of Tom Yum instant noodle.

Eating in Sra Bua is a fun experience. I am not a tough drinker, so I opted for some of their wines by the glass, which were all excellent. Please read captions for more deets. 😀
