Sunday Brunching at Next 2 Cafe at the Shangri-La Bangkok means you get a glimpse of the now rapidly-changing Bangkok riverside and unlimited Canadian lobsters.
At the price of Bt2,888++ per adult and Bt1,444++ per child, the feast includes a room filled with food of eclectic nationalities and non-alcoholic drinks, coffees and teas. So, the best plan is to skip breakfast on the day. And perhaps the dinner also the night before.

Like most Sunday Brunch experiences in Bangkok, Next 2 Cafe is all about heaps and piles of fresh seafood. But unlike most places, here, they put no limits on the Canadian lobsters. The lobsters are served main and centred at their chilled seafood station, along with river prawns, sea prawns, blue swimming crabs, mussels, King Crab legs and oysters. Also, for those who like hot items, they do have a good array of Thai savouries, Indian savouries (completed with freshly baked nan of all kinds), sliders of foie gras, sushi and sashimi spread, salads, cheese and boulangerie spread with cold cuts, along with another table groaned with Peking duck (rolled-up and ready-to-eat) and suckling pig.
Above: Another signature dish – Lobster omelette – with lobster chunks in lobster sauce cooked into a fluffy omelette, piled with hollandaise cream gratin and shrimp roe.
Also, walk outside to the open-air grill station and select from the various meats and sausages. You can even take out the chilled lobsters and have them cooked with garlic sauce as well.
Above: A typical Sunday Roast with roast beef and Yorkshire pudding is also on the table.

Above: The astronomical-style ice cream cabinet at Next 2 Cafe. Besides are assorted cakes, a chocolate fountain with all the trimmings, cake pops, assorted Thai desserts (kanom wan) with gold nuggets being Thong Yod, Thong Yip that are all my favourites.
Another highlight of Next 2 Cafe is their dedicated Kids Corner – in a room next door to the dining area – where kids can indulge in their own ways playing during the 3-hour Sunday Brunch. Now running is the Elephant Parade Workshop at Bt1,000 per elephant with 20% of the net profit to be donated to elephant-related charities. Or, even better, you can learn about these elephant charities and take a direct part to learn more about what they do and how to contribute better directly too.
