At Bull & Bear, With Beef, And Dave Pynt, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok Celebrates its 1st Anniversary


It was a media lunch, a house-full, prior to the real pop-up events, which were all sold-out. The chef was the award-winning, out-going, and friendly Dave Pynt.

Hailing from Perth, Australia, Chef Pynt of Burnt Ends in Singapore (small, excruciatingly difficult to book) offers modern Australian BBQ. Burnt Ends is a holder of one Michelin star, and ranked #10 on San Pellegrino Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019. With Waldorf Astoria Hotels, Dave Pynt created the poolside The Ledge at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi (just opened back in June 2019).

Here are the foods we so much enjoyed during that lunch. Their drinks were also super awesome. Starting with the superfine champagne, and the rest, well, was history. See how self-control was really hard to maintain.  For the foods portrayed here, bear in mind that some names reflect the chef’s interpretations rather than the traditional takes of the so-called dishes. Great things!

Above: Bull & Bear – usually the dinner-only steakhouse – is perched on 54F of the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok. A great spot for nighttime view and wonderful fresh foods.

Above: Fish and Chips – not your every day’s fish and chips as you can see. The potato, served in a square wedge below, is crispy fried into layers. Fatty, but oh-so-good.
